The Feb. 8 print edition contains a list of the largest law firms in the state based on the number of Florida attorneys.
The list is usually published only in the Tampa Bay Business Journal's annual "Book of Lists."
This year, it was added not only to our editorial calendar, but was published in all four regional Florida business journals (Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville and South Florida).
For the purpose of providing the most relevant content, each market uses it?s local address and managing partner. When there is not a local presence, the headquarters or largest Florida office location is used.
With 435 Florida attorneys, Akerman Senterfitt continues to be the largest firm in the state by a sizable margin.
There were some minor changes since the list last published in the 2013 Book of Lists. Holland & Knight moved into sole possession of the No. 2 spot with 353 attorneys, followed closely by Greenberg Traurig with 350.
One other change, which came through just prior to publication, occurred when Gunster announced the opening of its Orlando office, increasing its attorney count to 175 and its number of Florida offices to 11. The firm is relatively new to the Tampa Bay area as well, having opened a local office in September 2012 with the acquisition of Williams Schifino Mangione & Steady PA.
Tampa remains a prime location for the large firms operating within the state.
With the addition of a Gunster office, only three firms on the list, Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axlerod LLP, Lowndes Drosdick Doster Kantor & Reed PA and Greenspoon Marder do not have a Tampa Bay area presence. By comparison, four of the firms do not have a South Florida office location, nine are absent from the Orlando market, and 13 are not in Jacksonville.
Subscribers can see the full list, which contains additional information including the cities in which the firms have a presence and the local managing partner?s name, title and email.
